Do this one thing, and your animations will look awesome

There are many things you can do to improve your animations.

And in this video, I want to show you the one thing you can do to make your animations look awesome.

Hi Mark Diaz here for 2DAnimation 101 dot com. In this tutorial, I will show you how you can take a scene that you already have animated, and then,
improve the look by using cell shading.

Cell shading is a technique in which you add highlights and shadows to your animations, and you make them look awesome.

If you google cell shading you will find a lot of very interesting images using this technique. You can see how cool they look because of the
highlights, shadows and texture.

Well, this is what you can apply to your animations.

How can you do this?

By using Photoshop and combining it with an animation software. The one I will show you how to use in this tutorial is CrazyTalk Animator 3.2, the
Pipeline version.

Let’s take this scene, for example, animated in CrazyTalk Animator.

You can see that I have the animation of the body, the face and lip sync. Everything is in place.

All I want to do now is improve the look.

How?

Well, in CrazyTalk, you do this in 3 simple steps: 1. Pick the object (you want to improve) 2. Open Composer Mode 3. Open in Photoshop

Then, once you have it opened in Photoshop, you just apply all the shadows and texture you want, and then, you just save it.

Yes. As simple as that.

Save it, and it will update inside CrazyTalk Animator.

You see?

Then you do the same for all the other elements, and at the end... voila! You have a scene that now looks awesome.

So again, the 3 steps are: 1. Pick an Object 2. Open in Composer Mode 3. Open in Photoshop

Than inside Photoshop, you apply cell shading to the layers and save it. That’s it.

Do this one thing, and you will have animations that look awesome.
